To be a woman… what a fabulous and beautifully transformative life to live. If you identify as a female, you truly have your own unique identity! As cliche as it may sound, every single one of us is special, original, and absolutely one of a kind, yet where we share common ground as women is that there’s an undeniable, magnetic, lush, and powerful essence about us. Said essence, of course, varies woman to woman. This is one of the many parts of being a woman that I absolutely adore. We can all stand in our truth, unapologetically, as God made us. Deep down, without listening to what others may or may not think and say about us, who are you…? What are your strengths? We shouldn’t place all of our focus weaknesses and “flaws”. There’s so much more to all of us than what “we need to work on”.
It’s common for there to be stages throughout a girl’s transition into womanhood where she may forget who she is, suppress who she is, or feel pressured to change who she is due to ignorance from society, family, or media, which can cause internal conflict & neglect over one’s self. If this is resonating with you the amazing news is, as long as we’re still here, we can always return back to who we authentically are and be who we want to be! It may take some time and patience to rediscover & return back to us, but it IS possible. We can get back to within where it’s familiar and authentic.
The other great news is—you always have yourself, undoubtedly, and only YOU know yourself best! Again, it may take time, extra grace, patience, and open-mindedness to restart, but one great way to rediscover and tap into YOU is to learn about the seven feminine archetypes.
The feminine archetypes are more than just “personality traits”. They are what I like to call, ‘Divine Designs’ from The Creator of the Universe Who Created women with beautiful purposes beyond bringing life into this world!!! Women and girls all over the world are creations oozing with power, grace, creativity, holiness, confidence, intuition, love, and radiance! Archetype by definition means, “a very typical example of a certain person or thing”. The titles of the seven feminine archetypes are, The Mystic, The Maiden, The Mother, The Sage, The Queen, The Lover, and The Huntress. When some hear or read the word ‘femininity’, they tend to assume it only applies to women that are girly, “pink”, dainty, and proper, but femininity is actually a deeply layered and versatile essence. So, it is very much possible to resonate with more than one of these archetypes!
Although every woman has a main archetype, aforementioned, women are layered—meaning one can possess secondary and tertiary archetypes alongside the primary type. For example, my primary feminine archetype is the Maiden, however my secondary feminine archetype is, the Mystic, and my third is, the Mother archetype. The whole archetype framework was formulated by Swiss psychiatrist, Carl Jung, however the concept of ‘feminine archetypes’ was developed by psychologists and researchers afterwards, including notable contributions from Toni Wolf and Jean Shinoda Bolen.
If you are the type of girl who loves to take quizzes for an analysis of your personality, style, or romantic life, then taking a feminine archetype quiz and learning more about them can give you insight into how you are uniquely magnetic to others! It could also inspire you to get a deeper read on yourself, especially if you are in a season right now where you are feeling unsure of who you really are or may have an idea of who you want to become, yet you feel overwhelmed with where to start. As you read the descriptions of the seven feminine archetypes below, you may recognize one or a few either because you see yourself or someone else you know in them. I am going to link the Feminine Archetype quiz I took at the end of this post if you’re interested in discovering your primary and secondary feminine archetypes! This quiz was created by a lovely content creator named, Caitilin Mahina. Now, let’s dive into who these seven divine feminine women are!!
The Maiden

Who is she? The Maiden woman is most known for being jovial, feminine, charismatic, playful, sweet, empathetic, and innocent-like. People gravitate toward her because of her youthful energy, loving/warm heart, humor, and free-spirited personality! She knows how to have fun, be silly, and connected with the world around her. She’s spontaneous, carefree, whimsical, comforting, creative, and probably a hopeless romantic. Some examples of the Maiden woman are, Lara Jean Covey from the ‘To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before’ series, Serena Van der Woodsen from Gossip Girl, Molly Gunn from Uptown Girls, Jenna Rink from 13 going on 30, and Rapunzel from Disney’s film adaptation!
The Queen

Who is she? She is THEEE QUEEN! A regal, bold, powerful, glamorous, and ambitious leader. She’s known for being well connected and magnetic, as she’s able to naturally command attention when she walks into any room. You can’t treat her just any type of way either. The Queen archetype also has deep desires for a partner by her side (dare I say……..a king) who can keep up with her, stand tall & strong, and take charge. Some examples of the Queen archetype are, Beyoncé, Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl, Emily Gilmore from Gilmore Girls, and Mariah Carey.
The Sage

Who is she? The sage archetype woman is a sophisticated, wise, organized, intelligent, disciplined, cerebral, grounded, curious, and self-assured woman. She loves books, researching, planning, and executing her God-given gift to inform, advocate, study, and problem solve. You can think of her as the well-educated valedictorian, bookworm, lawyer, professor, or doctor! Some examples of the Sage woman are, Rory Gilmore from Gilmore Girls, Michelle Obama, Emma Watson (and Hermoine, the character she played in Harry Potter), and Elizabeth Bennett from Pride and Prejudice.
The Mystic

Who is she? This woman is the epitome of mysterious! But she’s also serene, peaceful, intuitive, magical, indescribable, almost untouchable, and very private. Her aura is creative, grounded, easygoing, possibly quirky, and maybe even a bit avant garde. These women are comfortable in their own solitude, as they definitely flow to the beat of their own drum! She’s very down to earth while actually being deeply spiritual, and she loves to bask in her inner world. The Mystic also holds this quiet confidence about her, as she doesn’t search for external validation and never feels the need to explain who she is to anyone. Some examples of the Mystic woman are, Sadé, Chappell Roan, Grace Kelly, Angelina Jolie, Enya, and Frida Kahlo.
The Huntress

Who is she? The Huntress is a go-getter through and through! She’s ambitious, goal-oriented, disciplined, confident, adventurous, fierce, outspoken, and the farthest thing from a people-pleaser! As someone who is unafraid to take charge, she doesn’t give a damn if anyone or anything tries to come in her way. This lady is a force to be reckoned with!! She paves and walks down her own path unapologetically, even if it’s not what society is comfortable with! When it comes to love, huntresses are not the type to get hyper-fixated on marriage & romance, but if she is going to share her space and heart, she deserves a highly masculine, driven partner by her side. Some examples of the Huntress archetype are, Katniss Everdeen from the Hunger Games series, Feyre Archeron from the ACOTAR series, Serena Williams, Merida from Brave the Disney film, Lady Gaga, and Megan the Stallion.
The Mother

Who is she? The Mother, of course, is maternal, nurturing, family-oriented, comfy, and devoting. She is comforting, giving, and grounded. She can also be very protective over the ones she loves! I see them as humanitarians to their core. They care about people and serve naturally. She’s the “mom-friend” in the group who is always prepared, and an ear to listen/a shoulder to cry on. She’s possibly someone who adores cooking/baking or maybe tending to something like a garden. She may be or inspires to be a philanthropist like one of my favorite actresses, Audrey Hepburn was. Other examples of the Mother archetype are, Princess Diana, Monica from Friends, Mother Teresa, and Nara Smith.
The Lover

Who is she? The Lover is the definition of a sensual. When you hear about the Lover archetype, you can think of women like the iconic actress, Megan Fox! The Lover often radiates a confident sex appeal, extroversion, passion, and an elegant nature. She thrives off of all kinds of pleasure, and as in her title, she LOVES LOVE! She loves the finer things in life like, cashmere, perfume, gowns, flowers, candles, expensive cuisine, and beauty. Physical touch is most likely her top love language as sensation is simply her essence. She’s a pretty, dreamy, romantic light. Other examples of the Lover archetype are, Sophia Loren, Sabrina Carpenter, Dua Lipa, and Elizabeth Taylor.
With all that being said, it’s important to keep in mind that, as we develop as woman, our feminine archetype are able to evolve as well, so maybe as you were reading you took note that you used to resonate with the Sage archetype once upon a time, but now you really feel that you embody the Lover Archetype—that’s normal and more than okay!
Although I did not mention this in today’s discussion, all seven of the feminine archetypes have something called shadow sides as well. No one who walks this earth is perfect by any means because we all grew up in varying circumstances that may have negatively impacted or hindered us in one way or another to varying degrees thus, shaping us into the type of people we are as adults. Lastly, with the famous women I mentioned above, they too are layered women with multiple feminine archetypes, like Serena Williams for example. In my opinion, on the court Serena Williams is definitely a Huntress since she is a world-renowned tennis player, but off the court (from what I’ve observed) she presents more as the Lover archetype because she oozes out this gorgeous, sensual, light, feminine aura!!! This has always made me love and admire her and her natural duality. If you want more information on the seven feminine archetypes, their shadow sides, and more real life examples, please leave me a comment and let me know! 🙂 Love, From Fille to Femme xoxo <3
